Starting out NEET Preparation by Vishwajit

Image
Here's how achieving 600+ became even remotely plausible, The paper was of low difficulty which becomes apparent on analysing the ranking vs marks  The Covid-19 pandemic allowed 6 months of extra preparation. Giving time to recover from all the mistakes that were made initially and explore the topics that were taught during the crash course in depth. The latter and former couldn't have been done otherwise. I hope the whole picture becomes clear now. The goal here is to prevent students from making time costly mistakes that I did ,but wouldn't necessarily get the same recovery period. There are certain things that would be useful to keep in mind during the NEET exam preparation : • Please don't compare your 'practise test' marks with those of the seniors in the previous year NEET exams. The NEET exam is considerably easier. • Consistency is vital • Mininal/No coaching will suffice to crack this exam  • Real success is when you manage to crack the exam, along w...

My Experiences with NEET by Vishwajit

NEET. NEET. NEET. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. Funny thing is I got a 99.3 percentile but I still ranked about 9000. 15 lakh students write this exam, but there only about 80 thousand MBBS seats in the country.  In a series of posts, I will speak about my preparation schedule, the study resources I used and the temperament needed to face this exam. We will also cover the application and college allotment process. As a student studying in an Indian School, in the Gulf, under the CBSE curriculum. I figured that there is a lack of information, particularly for the Gulf students attempting this exam.  This isn't a 'how to score 720/720' post. No video on YouTube can tell you how to do that. I have had enough click bait experiences to give you that piece of advice. Its important to keep in mind that no matter how many study materials are provided to you, it comes down to your will and determination to dig deep into the subjects.  Whether its NEET or JEE or any...

USMLE Step 1 Preparation by Keerthika

USMLE Step one.  A rollercoaster ride. I thank God for making this possible and giving me the strength to prepare and sit through this 8-hour exam. I’ve shared my preparation timeline and I’ll be more than happy to answer questions, or help with your preparation in any way I can. Resources used: 1) UWorld (GOLD) 2) First Aid (GOLD) 3) Sketchy Micro (GOLD) 4) Anki (GOLD) – I would recommend self-made cards 5) Kaplan lecture videos (2015) and notes (2017) 6) USMLE Rx (Flash cards and Qbank) 7) Amboss My journey started with me subscribing to UWorld in December 2019 ( I blindly took that decision, even though my second year exams were around the corner in February). If you want to accomplish your goals, IT IS NOW OR NEVER . I did a few tests, whenever I found time, and scored less than a 40% in almost every one of them. After my university exams, from March 1st, my parents were constantly behind me to start serious preparation. I started watching one Kaplan video a day. There we...

Iceland - The land of Ice and Fire by Tarun

Iceland is a gorgeous country. If you want to visit a place in the world, it should be Iceland. Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland. In summer the weather is not too hot nor too cold, it is about 10 - 14 degrees celsius during day and 2 - 5 degrees during night. Iceland has a variety of species of birds. The Puffin is the National Bird of Iceland. Iceland is also famous for its whales. There are so many animals like the Icelandic horses and dogs. Iceland is also famous for its fish & chips. They have a particularly good taste. I visited Iceland in 2017. Out of so many places I have visited, Iceland was the best. We took a flight from Oman to Dubai and from there to Frankfurt. We stayed there for two days in Frankfurt and then we went to Berlin and from there to Reykjavik. We stayed in a guesthouse which was pretty good. It was called 'Central Guesthouse Reykjavik'. It had a well equipped kitchen were we could sit and have breakfast, lunch and dinner. It had some food but...
